# Professional Tax - Monthly/Annual pay out

Whether deduction of professional tax from the monthly salary / wages can be on the basis of monthly payout or is it on the annual gross pay out ?

Hello,

Professional tax varies state wise and in some states it’s not applicable. And PT is calculated on monthly basis on your monthly gross salary salary.

Hi

It is based on the State, if it is Karnataka it is monthly on Gross income exceeding 15000/- and for Kerala it is on half yearly slab rate and for Tamilnadu once in 6 months.
