What Can HR Teams Learn from Museums About Digital Member & Employee Experiences?

Many organizations are looking for better ways to improve employee engagement, simplify access, and reduce reliance on physical ID cards. Interestingly, museums have been solving similar challenges for years.

Whether it’s a science center museum, history museum, children’s museum, art museum, or art gallery museum, many institutions are modernizing the visitor experience with digital solutions. Instead of carrying plastic cards, members can access benefits, events, and exclusive experiences more conveniently through a museum membership card stored on their mobile devices.

This made me think about how HR teams could adopt similar ideas for employees. Digital employee IDs, mobile wallet passes, faster onboarding, seamless office access, and personalized rewards could create a more connected workplace while reducing administrative work.

Has anyone’s organization explored replacing traditional employee ID cards with digital wallet passes? I’d be interested to hear what worked well, what challenges you faced, and whether employees embraced the change.
