How can an employee at his/her own improve his/her psychological safety at workplace

Our sense of safety is based on interpersonal interactions, company culture and leadership values. Hence the onus of taking care of your own psychological safety is not one that can be put on the individual alone.

Similar to the manager strategies, an individual employee can work on

  • Being empathetic with co-workers
  • Ask open ended questions
  • Give a colleague credit for their ideas and work

This shared sense of psychological safety is what makes employees feel open and comfortable at the workplace.
