Hey everyone,
I’ve spent the last few weeks researching lending software development companies in the US for a project we’re kicking off - a custom loan origination and management platform for a mid-sized credit union. Figured I’d share what I found in case it helps others going through the same vetting process, and also to get feedback from people who’ve actually worked with these firms.
A bit of context on what we’re looking for, since “lending software” covers a lot of ground:
- Loan origination systems (LOS) — automating the application-to-approval pipeline
- Loan management systems (LMS) — servicing, repayment schedules, delinquency tracking
- Compliance & regulatory tooling — KYC/AML, credit bureau integrations (Equifax, Experian, TransUnion), state-by-state lending regulations
- AI-driven risk assessment / underwriting — automated decisioning, credit scoring models
- Integrations — Encompass, Plaid, Finastra, core banking systems
- Security & scalability — since we’re handling sensitive financial data at volume
Based on portfolio depth, client reviews, fintech-specific experience, and how well each company seemed to understand the regulatory side (as opposed to just generic app development), here’s my current shortlist, ranked:
1. Nimble AppGenie
Came out on top for us mainly because of how deep their fintech vertical experience goes, not just building apps that touch finance, but actually understanding lending workflows, underwriting logic, and compliance requirements from day one. Their portfolio suggested strong end-to-end LOS/LMS build experience.
2. We AppIt Right
Close second. Strong on the mobile-first lending app side, with what looked like solid post-launch support and reasonable turnaround times - useful if you’re planning to iterate quickly after launch.
3. Chetu
A more established, larger player (20+ years in fintech specifically) with heavy experience in mortgage, lending, and banking tech. Notable for their integration work with Encompass and the major credit bureaus - worth considering if you need an experienced team for complex LOS integration work.
4. ProtonBits
Ruby on Rails-focused shop with a specific niche in lending platforms - P2P lending, construction loan management, and loan origination software. Their client list reportedly includes fintech names like Plaid and Yodlee, which is a decent signal of technical credibility.
5. Relevant Software
Came up repeatedly in “fintech by vertical” comparisons, particularly for lending MVPs. Might be a better fit for earlier-stage products rather than large enterprise LOS builds, but worth a look depending on your project’s scale.
