Yes it is permitted , it will be treated as Voluntary contribution. However with the latest guidelines contributions over 500000, the interest will attract Income Tax. For contributing at higher basic wage permission of RPFC is to be taken

For contribution on statutory wage ceiling no option is needed. However for contribution above the wage ceiling the consent of the employee and the employer along with the approval of the RPFC is needed.

Hi Narayana sir,

An employee date of Joining is in the year March 2021 . As he is above the cap limit 15k and has no previous pf account organization didn’t enroll him in pf at the time of joining . Now an employee would like to enroll in pf and the organization agreed to enroll him in pf . In this case what will be the date of joining to show in the pf portal at the time of enrolling?

Not permitted, the employer has to pay the administration charges

For contributing above the wage ceiling the consent of the employee and the employer along with the approval of the RPFC is needed. Date of membership is always prospective from the date of consent/approval of RPFC.

Dear Sir,

Is it mandatory to have 1800 as minimum PF contribution? Heard that we need to add other components other than HRA and calculate 12% on that as PF?

There is no minimum PF contribution prescribed under the Act. The contributions @ 12% are payable on the basis of salary/wages by the employee and 12% is to be contributed by the employer.
PF is payable on Basic Wages and all other allowances which are not specifically excluded in the Act.

The PF accumulations are payable to the legal heirs of the member equally. All legal heirs as per Act are required to apply for the same.
