By rules is serving 30/60/90 days notice period mandatory for employees?

By rules Is 30/60/90 days notice period mandatory for any roles of employees? What is the main thought on it?

The basic understanding is follow the clause mentioned in appointment letter, also employer discretion included. A lot of HR professionals serve 30/60/90 days notice period reducing the chances of getting a newer jobs.

@Chitra Yes Notice period is a must for an employee as lot of transition/KT would be there. From company’s end replacement (sourcing, interview, selection) is required and training/KT to be given before the employee exits.
