Employee request of immediate relieving without notice period

What does the rules say about employee request of immediate relieving without notice period?
Is it mandatory to make sure they serve the notice period mentioned in appointment letter?

Hi,

It depends on the employer’s discretion. If an employer wishes and agrees, an employee can be relieved earlier also.

Hi Gowri,

No, its not mandatory to follow appointment letter in terms of relieving any employee on an immediate basis without serving notice period, but only if company or department head is ok to be relieved him/her without notice period.
