Minimum salary one should have for TDS deduction?

Hi All,

These questions may sound basic but wanted to re-confirm if there are any changes recently as well. also, in the learning process.

1. What is the minimum salary one should have for TDS to be deducted by the employer?
2. When should TDS be deducted and by whom?
3. How do I know how much TDS has been deducted and whether it has been deposited to the income tax department?

Hi Anu,

This might help-

1. What is the minimum salary one should have for TDS to be deducted by the employer?
Only if minimum salary is above basic exemption limit. i.e. above 2.5L

2. When should TDS be deducted and by whom?
TDS gets deducted when income is generated. Deducted by employer and in case of interest income deducted by bank.

3. How do I know how much TDS has been deducted and whether it has been deposited to the income tax department?
Downloading tax credit statement, Form 26AS from IT website. It covers all TDS deduction details.
