Hi @Malathy ,

The bifurcation of the employer’s Provident Fund (PF) contribution into the Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF) and the Employees’ Pension Scheme (EPS) was mandated with the introduction of the EPS in 1995. Specifically, the Employees’ Pension Scheme was established through the Employees’ Pension Scheme, 1995, which came into effect on 16th November 1995. This scheme required that 8.33% of the employer’s contribution be directed towards EPS, with the remaining 3.67% allocated to EPF.

Regarding the airline industry, the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) issued a notification dated 22nd March 2001, specifying that certain establishments, including the airlines industry (excluding those owned or controlled by the Central or State Government), were to be covered under the EPF Act.

Therefore, the bifurcation of the employer’s PF contribution into EPF and EPS was mandated from 16th November 1995, with specific applicability to the airline industry enforced from 22nd March 2001.
