What is the maximum duration that can be considered for long term medical leave of absence in all scenarios?

Employee may request Medical Leave of Absence if an illness, surgery or other medical events that would keep
the employee away from work for an extended period of time and shall be subject to the approval of the
Manager and higher authorities.
The leave is considered only in emergency scenarios on advise from consulting doctors. Generally companies provide a maximum of 12 months from the onset of the illness, surgery, disability or other medical event. All the general leaves would be exhausted before converting them to medical leave of absence.

Not very sure any labor law maintains any kind of cap on medical leave.
However, the organization could introduce necessary terms in employment terms and related policies to regulate employees’ leave of absence. While framing such policies, legal consultation also shall be done to avoid pitfalls
