Dear Nitin

You can file IT Return by selecting filing after due date and if tax due or income is above taxable income they may charge penalty of 1000/- and interest if there is any balance payment is due.

Thanks and Regards

Taxpayers will be able to file ITRs even after the due date but will face penalties based on their taxable income. As per the changed rules notified under section 234F of the Income Tax Act, filing your ITR post the deadline, can make you liable to pay a maximum penalty of Rs.5,000.
Another important factor, the taxpayer must know that if their taxable income is less than Rs 5 lakh, then they pay a penalty of Rs 1,000. And if they have an income below the taxable limit, they are not required to pay the penalty in case of missing the ITR filing deadline.

The relaxation is on- The CBDT made a statement that in respect of an ITR filed electronically without a digital signature, the taxpayer must verify it within the time limit of 120 days from the date of uploading ITR. Please note that ITRs that are e-filed without digital signature, taxpayers must verify it within 120 days using data like Aadhaar OTP etc. Such returns can now be filed by 28th Feb 2022.
