Maternity Leave benefit

Hello,

As per our company’s policy employee can avail 24 weeks of maternity leave of which . However, the Maternity Benefit (Amendment) Act,2017 says maximum of 26 weeks of which not more than 8 weeks shall precede the date of expected delivery.

It is ok if our company is giving 24 weeks of maternity leave and not 26 weeks? As the Act says 26 is the maximum leaves that can be availed and not minimum.

A company can not take a call to reduce the maternity benefit leave days. 26 weeks is applicable to all organizatins that fall in to the scope of the act
