New joinee induction

Hi Members,

Onboarding and induction process play a crucial role in how new joiners see the new organization.

  1. How are fellow HR professionals here virtually managing first day/first week activities of inducting new joiners into the system?
  2. Any best practices or new tricks steps to get all things proper in place? To avoid the usual last minute mess up that happens and have a smooth induction.

Some suggestions will be great learning.

Hi Swathi,

Firstly we concentrate mainly on the documentation in the first half and personally guide them on filling up all the required forms
In the second half we set up a call with each employee individually to explain about the attendance and leave system, about the probation and general company policies w.r.t WFH.
We also share a training calendar with them and a date for formal induction process. With that we also confirm their present address and initiate the process to send them a New joiner kit (surprise for the employee) and will also let them know by when they will get their assets
All of the above is done on the 1st day of joining

Hi Swati / Umair,

To add to this, before the date of joining the below needs to be done:

  • Collecting the relevant documents (PAN Card, Aadhar Card, Education documents, Experience Documents etc)
  • Keeping the IT team updated so that they can keep the necessary IT assets in place
  • Initiate the BGV

On the date of joining we also intimate the hiring manager and set up an introduction call with the team.

All these ensures a smooth onboarding on the first day and great employee experience.
