Hi Prabha,
In order to encourage more employment of women, and to support higher take-home salary, this was introduced in the year 2018-19 union budget which provided that new women employees can make an EPF contribution of 8% instead of 12%.
However, this privilege is only for the first three years of employment. Though a woman employee contributes 8% towards EPF, the employer has to maintain its EPF contribution at 12%.

Hi Anand Christopher,
Though there is no further updates on this, the scheme under Aatmanirbhar Bharat Rojgar Yojana (ABRY) facilitates some benefits. This scheme was extended till 31 March 2022.

Thanks for the update Bhuvana. However, ABRY had a lot of disadvantages also… Like, you had to maintain the additional number of employees added, throughout the entire period, if not we will be out of the scheme and things like that. For ex. If we added 5 people in the beginning of the scheme, we should maintain that 5 number throughout the scheme, if anybody resigns/leaves, we will have to replace the employee w.e.f or else, if we do not maintain that count, we will not be eligible for the scheme from the next month onwards…
