Twitter closes offices in preparation for mass layoff!

Elon Musk’s Twitter has temporarily closed its offices and blocked access for its workers to the internal systems as the company looks to cut staff, according to Reuters. Twitter on Thursday told its employees that they would be informed if they were affected by the layoff that will roughly impact 3,700 employees.

Last week Musk said will be looking to lay off 75 percent of the Twitter staff, which was falsified by the executive. But the planned staff cut is expected to affect 50 percent of Twitter staff.

The social media company’s email to its employees read that it would be reducing the global workforce on Friday. Some Twitter employees filed a class-action lawsuit on Thursday in San Francisco federal court for eliminating jobs without prior notice.

After the takeover, Musk dissolved the board of directors to become the sole director of the company and the chief executive officer. Musk completed his USD 44 billion takeover of Twitter on October 27 and has introduced significant changes to how the platform works including introducing USD 8 per month subscription for the coveted account verification badge.
