What is the difference between employee branding and employer branding?

simply put employer branding is for branding the organization for external world - to attract customers, candidates etc
employee branding is the experience the organization can provide to its people - commonly the EX bit

the major importance is what experience employees have at the workplace. This determines their engagement/ retention/ contribution etc. Also employees are brand ambassadors for the organization - so this will come to impact employer branding as well.

How to build an employee branding program?

as it is employee branding - first step is to know what employees want. this can be done through pulse surveys/ dipchecks/ esat etc. Once we get that, match it with organizations VMV and create programs/ interventions accordingly
Once the EX is created, it must be revisited to check for relevant and effectiveness regularly

it does - today in the age of social media & networking employees act as brand ambassadors. if employee branding is not proper, definitely the feedback going to the external world is also impacted - so its a double whammy!
Gallup studies have shown a direct correlation of employee experirnce to customer experience thereby impacting business -we musntnt forget that

two approaches
1 external benchmarking - check what comparators are doing as the talent movement happens and so does expectations
2 internal fact finding - we do what our people want

esat is the best metric I feel
we must remember that employee branding/ experience is not only creating a fun place at work.
following Gallup Q12 or GPTW framework gives pertinent inputs in a before/after scenario - should organizations want to measure

i think the first is the organizations openness to do this.
leaderships tend to think we know what our people want or link everything with money - thats the biggest flaw & challenge
Once the needs are identified, something needs to change - may be way of working, policies/ procedures/ org structures etc - these need change management interventions both at personal & organizational level - another challenge
these two are the biggest ones, i feel
