Collect physical hard copies of employee information at onboarding?

Hi,

By rules is it necessary to collect physical hard copies of employee information while onboarding of new hires?
In the last year and this year most of onboarding has been digital. If other case we need to start collecting as we start office.

Just an opinion here, since the onboarding in past year has happened mostly virtually, it can be considered a one time thing. I would prefer suggesting verifying and keeping both copies to be recorded physical copies and digital.
