Facts on women's empowerment!

Hello Community Members,

Hope you are doing well.

We are back on the last day of the women’s special week and we are here to share some facts on women’s empowerment and why this should become an important topic for every individual.

  1. When more women work, economies grow. For example, increasing the female employment rates in OECD countries could boost global GDP by over USD 6 trillion.

  2. Women’s economic equality is good for business. It is estimated that companies with three or more women in senior management functions score higher in all dimensions of organizational performance.

  3. Women bear disproportionate responsibility for unpaid care and domestic work. Women tend to spend around 2.5 times more time on unpaid care and domestic work than men.

  4. Women and girls suffer most from the dearth of safely managed water and sanitation. Women and girls are responsible for water collection in the majority of households without access to water on the premises.

  5. An extra year of education can help a girl earn 15-25% more as an adult.

  6. 130 million girls are out of school worldwide, and 11 million girls might not return to school after the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted their education.

  7. Domestic violence—just one form of gender-based violence—is costlier than warfare, with a worldwide annual cost of $8 trillion.

  8. Educated mothers are more than twice as likely to send their children to school.
