Is Form 16 mandatory to file ITR?

For an employer, it is mandatory to issue Form 16 to the employees. However, you can file ITR without Form 16, but you may require to furnish it to the Income Tax Department in case of anomalies, or discrepancies found in your returns. Moreover, since Form 16 has all the details of your salary it’s easier to file your ITR with the help of it. Hence, Form 16 is always a good-to-have document.
