Hi @Geetha.Vaidya

To register your company with the National Pension System (NPS) Corporate Model and enable this benefit for your employees, you need to follow a structured onboarding process involving the PFRDA, CRA (Central Recordkeeping Agency), and your internal HR/payroll setup.

Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you through the registration and onboarding.

Step 1: Choose the Nodal Office Type

Corporate entities must decide on the Nodal Office Type. For NPS, companies are treated as Corporate Subscribers.

  • If your company is not yet registered under NPS, you will be required to register as a Corporate (Employer) with a CRA (either Protean CRA or KFintech CRA).

Step 2: Select a CRA (Central Recordkeeping Agency)

There are currently two CRAs authorized by PFRDA:

  • Protean eGov Technologies Ltd. (formerly NSDL e-Gov)
  • KFin Technologies Ltd.

You must choose one CRA and then proceed with corporate registration through their portal.

Step 3: Submit Corporate Registration Form

Download the Corporate Subscriber Registration Form (CSRF) from the CRA website:

Fill out the following:

  • Company name, address, and contact details
  • Authorized signatory details
  • Company PAN, registration certificate
  • Bank account details (for contribution remittance)
  • Registration under appropriate sector: Private Sector, Government, etc.

Attach necessary documents and submit the completed form to the CRA.

Step 4: CRA Issues Corporate Registration Number (CRN)

Once verified, the CRA will issue a Corporate Registration Number (CRN) to your company. This will be used to link your employees (subscribers) under your company.

Step 5: Appoint a Point of Contact / Nodal Officer

Designate a Corporate Nodal Officer (CNO) within your HR or Payroll department who will be responsible for:

  • Liaising with CRA
  • Authorizing subscriber registration
  • Authorizing contributions and remittances

Step 6: Facilitate Employee Registration (PRAN)

Each employee must be registered individually for NPS:

  • Fill the Subscriber Registration Form (Form S1) and KYC documents
  • Submit to CRA either via physical process or through eNPS Corporate onboarding (if CRA supports)
  • Upon processing, each employee will be issued a Permanent Retirement Account Number (PRAN)

Step 7: Setup Contribution Mechanism

You will need to:

  • Decide the employer and employee contribution ratio (e.g., 10% basic + DA, or any other fixed amount)
  • Configure your payroll software to capture and deduct NPS contributions monthly
  • Generate contribution files in the FPU (File Preparation Utility) as per CRA format
  • Remit contribution to the Trustee Bank (Axis Bank) within T+2 days of salary credit

Step 8: Upload Contribution File and Confirm

  • Upload Subscriber Contribution File (SCF) to CRA portal
  • CRA validates and posts the contribution to each subscriber’s PRAN
  • You receive an acknowledgment (Transaction ID) for tracking

Step 9: Educate Employees & Monitor Compliance

  • Conduct awareness sessions for employees
  • Share tax benefits (under Sec 80CCD(1B) – up to ₹50,000 extra)
  • Monitor timely remittance and compliance monthly
  • CRA also provides dashboards for corporate tracking
