Is it compulsory to rejoin the same company after maternity leave? If it is , Is there any time period to stay with a company after coming back from maternity leave?

Hi Prabha,
As per the employment contract / letter of appointment, an employee who goes under maternity leave is expected to resume work in the company after the completion of maternity leave. The law encourages the employer and employee to arrive at an understanding to arrange work from home if it suits the parties and nature of work.
If an employee wants to resign/move from the company post maternity leave, the resignation and the notice period will apply as per the terms agreed under the employment contract/appointment letter.
