Rejecting resignations

Hi,

If the employee attrition in the company is very high. Will it correct as per rule to instruct managers to reject resignations?

No. If the employee is ready to serve the notice period, then resignation can’t be rejected.

Hi Manjunath,

If your attrition is high, then you should look to find out reason and take corrective measures so the situation of resignation does not arise.

Hi Manjunath,

No, We cannot reject anyone’s resignation, in fact instead rejecting one should find out the reason for such resignations. Try to address the reasons for their resignations. I am sure company and employee can reach on one point by discussing or addressing.

If company is facing high attrition but resigned employees going as per company exit procedures without violating any rules than you cannot stop them.

Even when employee is not ready to serve notice period but ready to pay in lieu of notice, then also we can’t reject his resignation

Never. Ignoring a problem and also unnecessarily provoking employees are not going to fix attrition.
The organization has to understand the root cause and fix it. HR professionals together with the leadership team can make it.

I agree with Sree on this. Rejecting resignations by any means will nowhere help you in reducing the attrition.

We need to understand the root cause and fix it.
