Will employer be punished for COVID-19 cases in their offices?

Hi,

Can an employer be penalized in case of COVID-19 cases suddenly develop on its premises?

There is no regulation in place to do that, but organisations should follow the government issued SoP for workplaces/offices.

Hi Sandeep,

If the employer is not following the COVID-19 protocols prescribed by the MHA, will have to face the prescribed consequences if any under the Disaster Management Act.

If the COVID cases are increasing in an employer’s premises due to any act or omission of the employer that contributes to the cause of COVID surge in the campus, the employer is accountable and answerable to the appropriate authorities as well as its employees.
