Immediate termination during probation period

Hi team,

Wanted to know what are the general rules and regulations revolving around immediate termination of employees during the probation period?

There is nothing called immediate termination if an employee has not done any violation of company rule, misconduct, breach of trust or any criminal offense.

You can terminate immediately on the above mentioned pointers.

If you are not ok with an employee who is on probation period, you can do 2 things:

  1. Extend his/her probation period with proper notice stating you will be under observation for specific time period and even after that your work doesn’t satisfied company standard then we need to part our ways.
  2. Ask for the resignation letter to have a smooth transcation.

I hope this information will help you.

Communication & Timely Feedback will play a big role.

As an HR it is your responsibility to have frequent communication/discussion with Manager & Employee and not wait till the end of 6 months. This will help you to get feedback and share feedback with concerned. This will also help you to let Manager known the difficulties Employee is facing. This should be wholesome process before taking a decision of Termination.
