Karnataka Government advises employers, landlords to be liberal during COVID 19 curfew

In April 2021 the Karnataka Government had released a notification to employers not to terminate or reduce the wages of their employees during the COVID 19 lockdown. Immediately after this, the Karnataka Government withdrew this notification and did not cooperate with employees who filed complaints. Do any of you have a copy of the withdrawal notification? Could you please share it?

Hi @Forage11 ,

In April 2021, the Karnataka Government issued a notification advising employers not to terminate or reduce the wages of their employees during the COVID-19 lockdown. However, this notification was subsequently withdrawn, and the government did not support employees who filed complaints regarding non-compliance.

While the initial notification is documented, specific details about the withdrawal notification are limited. The Karnataka Labour Department’s official website provides access to various orders and notifications, which may include the withdrawal notice you’re seeking. You can review the notifications issued around April 2021 to locate the specific document.

Additionally, media reports from that period indicate that the Labour Department reversed its decision to issue notices to employers regarding wage payments during the lockdown.

While these reports confirm the withdrawal, they do not provide the official notification document.

For an official copy of the withdrawal notification, it would be advisable to contact the Karnataka Labour Department directly. They can provide the specific document and offer further clarification on the matter.

Trisha.
