Professional tax in final settlement

The final settlement was made for an employee in this month (November 2022). But the settlement only had this month’s PT included. Shouldn’t it have included PT till the month of march?

Hey @anjanajames,

PT is considered till the month he/she worked. Other than that there is no PT charged.

But when I checked for few other former employees. They had paid their PT for the rest of the half year from their date of relieve.

Well, thats not how it should work. It’s a monthly thing and should be only deducted till the month the employee leaves. Not sure if there is some other policy followed by the company or might differ from state to state.

The second half of the year just started and it didn’t amount to Rs.75,000. Maybe because his salary did not exceed that slab, he only had to pay for the current month?

Hi,

PT calculation is based on the salary slap provided by the state Govt. 2 months (Oct, Nov) based on the salary slap need to be detected from he/she salary.

In TN the P Tax is deducted on the specific slab and paid on half yearly basis.

To add, PT has to be paid depending on the slab. If the employee has remitted it at one company he need not remit it in the next company and vice versa.
Thank you
