UAN Card & PF Statement as part of joining documents

  • Is it a mandate to ask candidates joining the organization to submit UAN Card and/or PF statement as evidence to confirm if they were being covered under EPF/EPS by their previous employees?
    Or, the candidate/new joiner filling up the details in the forms and confirming would suffice?
    *Are there any possibilities of compliance issues, in case no evidence is provided and there are mismatches?

It is a good practice to request the new employee to submit UAN/PF statement as frequently they would not know if they were covered under EPS by their previous employer. This would prevent errors and attempting to rectify later. This would avoid compliance issues which would crop up later
